  • Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge – approach trail 8 mile. Cabins, camping, lodge rooms, glamping. Lodge rooms: from 199/night. Campsites: $30-50/night. The famous arch at the beginning of the AT Approach Trail. Pass the biggest waterfall in Georgia, Amicalola Falls. First white blaze on the AT at Springer Mountain.
  • Mile 78 – NC border
  • Albert Mtn – unofficial 100 mile marker of the AT
  • Franklin, NC – good place for first ZERO DAY. Food, hostel, laundry, resupply. *Chica and Sunsets Hostel
  • Clingmans Dome (mile 200) Highest point of elevation on AT.
  • Hot Springs, NC (274) Great place for second ZERO DAY
  • Jones Falls (400)
  • TN/VA Border – (467)
  • Grayson Highlands – wild ponies
  • 500 miles – Fat Man Squeeze
  • Marion, VA – Great place for your third ZERO day! Hotels with hot tubs, a sauna, great Italian food nearby.
  • Keffer Oak (678) Largest Oak tree on AT….about 300 years old.
  • Dragon’s Tooth (702) – VA triple crown begins
  • McAfee Knob (714) – one of the most photographed spots on the AT
  • The Guillotine – (771)
  • The Priest Shelter (829) – people like to confess their sins in the log book.
  • Rockfish Gap (864) – Shenandoah NP begins
  • The Rollercoaster (996) – VA
  • VA/WV border – (1023)
  • Waynesboro, PA – A great place for your 4th Zero day!
  • Halfway Point – (1096.5)
  • Warwick Drive-In – Boran, NY get a hitch into a hiker friendly drive-in movie theater where you can pitch your tent and watch a movie all for free!
  • The Lemon Squeezer – narrow rock passage near the NJ/NY state lines
  • Trailside Zoo – right after Bear Mountain in NY
  • Nuclear Lake (1446) – a beautiful lake to swim and cool off
  • Greylock (1590) – The highest point in Massachusetts
  • Vermont State Line (1600) – Beginning of the Long Trail
  • Stratton Pond / Little Rock Pond, VT – scenic ponds to swim and cool off
  • Franconia Ridge – (1825) One of the most epic views on the AT. In the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.
  • Lincoln, NH – A great place to take your 5th Zero day! Get your rest, because hiking the Presidentials in the White Mountains, which is coming up, is no joke!
  • Washington, NH – (1861) Home to the most unpredictable, intense weather in the United States, if not the world!
  • Maine state line – (1912) Congratulations! You made it to the final state!
  • Kennebec River, Maine – (2042) in order to cross the river, a canoe is needed to cross, and it only operates between 9-11am some days, so plan your arrival appropriately! The canoe has a white blaze painted on the bottom, signifying it is an official route of the AT.

  • Chica and Sunsets Hostel – Franklin, NC – (mile 110) $60 per bed, includes laundry, shuttle, comp breakfast.
  • The NOC – (136) Nantahala Outdoor Center. Shower, sleep, eat, refresh. Bryson City, NC
  • Fontana Marina (164) – resupply. Beer. Hotel pool. Fontana Dam, NC
  • Uncle Johnny’s – outfitters store, shuttle (food, Walmart, ect.), cabins.
  • The Station at 19E – Roan Mountain, TN – pub and hostel, resupply, live music
  • Broken Fiddle Hostel – Damascus, VA – resupply, diner, live music
  • Marion, VA – food, shelter, hotels
  • Woods Hole Hostel – Pearisburg, VA – great reviews, warm food, yoga, organic gardening
  • Daleville, VA (730) – motels, grocery stores
  • Lewis Mountain Campground – cabins, showers, laundry, camp store
  • Skyland Resort (934) – hotel, spa
  • Pine Grove Furnace – General Store
  • Green Mountain General Store – ice cream! Half gallon challenge!
  • Boiling Springs Veterans Park – shelter, food, resupply
  • Duncannon, PA – resupply, food
  • The Pavillion – Port Clinton, PA – Cabellas, Walmart, food, drinks
  • Delaware Water Gap – Hotels, coffee, laundry, showers.
  • Bennington, VT – hotels, Walmart, showers, hot food, and best of all……Vermont Maple Syrup!
  • Hanover, NH – resupply, hot food, hotels
  • Bethel, Maine – groceries, supplies, hotels, food
  • Monson, MEShaw’s Hiker Hostel…..the last hostel on the AT and last place to resupply.
